ADAPT CPD Course: Movement Progressions and Regressions
At the core of coaching parkour and movement is understanding how to identify where someone’s movement capacity sits on the overall continuum of progression. Only then can a coach apply the correct movement progression or regression to improve, enhance and advance that athlete’s ability.
This CPD focuses on identifying the major movement continuums for parkour and practical movement training and how to identify and apply the appropriate progressions or regressions for an individual learner.
You will learn the most effective progression paths for foundational movements such as running and standing jumps, impact absorption, vault patterns, swings and brachiations, and more.
This CPD Course teaches participants to:
Screen and analyse athletes’ movement capacities to identify where they are on a specific movement continuum
Where necessary to regress an athlete’s movement one or two steps back to strengthen foundations or fix inaccuracies
Learn how to apply effective progressions to enhance an athlete’s ability
Learn to structure a movement training session so as to move fluidly through progressions
Learn to assess athletes’ development along a continuum to realistically plan future progressions
