As people grow older, an active lifestyle is more important than ever. Regular movement can help boost energy, maintain independence and reduce symptoms of illness or pain. Movement practice can even reverse some of the symptoms of aging. And not only is movement good for the body, it’s also good for the mind, mood, and memory. Movement has been proven to be the most therapeutic activity of all when it comes to staving off the mental and physical ravages of old age. In this CPD you will learn how to implement parkour-based activities for the over 60s, understanding how to develop and maintain the vital lifelong movement skills that will keep people safe, healthy and young!

The CPD focuses on:

  • Fall prevention

  • Functional mobility

  • Fitness and aerobic capacity

  • Health and well-being

  • Strength work for the major muscle groups (legs, hips, back, abdomen, chest, shoulders and arms)

COURSE OBJECTIVES

This CPD Course teaches participants to:

Prevent Falls

Implement fall prevention training, drills and strategies for the over 60s

Mobilise

Develop and maintain functional mobility in older people, including stability and flexibility

Strengthen

Strengthen muscles which provide stability, balance and coordination throughout the whole body

Energise

Energise, engage and reactivate the desire to move, play and explore

Build Community

Encourage social interaction and community-building to prevent isolation among over 60s
