The purpose of this course is to learn specific methods for teaching parkour to children and adolescents. Participants will learn techniques to implement parkour training for young people around the age of 7-16 years old. Other topics covered include neurological development as it relates to movement, health and safety, teaching styles, class structure, and kids games. Participants will learn how to develop play-based training into adventure-based training, all the while keeping it fun and challenging – which is essential to engaging young people with physical activity. Teachers, coaches, parents, home-schooling families and many others will benefit from learning this unique, kid-friendly approach to teaching parkour.
The Youth Coaching Course teaches participants to:
Introduce parkour to young people through play
Understand the dynamics of coaching kids
Identify and teach the primary points of performance of the foundational movements
Identify healthy movement mechanics when training young people, and apply the appropriate corrections if necessary
Apply the ADAPT Youth Coaching methods safely and effectively
Already attended a Level 1 Assistant Coach Certificate Course.
