WHAT IS ADAPT?
The Art du Déplacement And Parkour Teaching (ADAPT) Certification is the internationally recognized teaching certification for parkour / freerunning / art du déplacement that provides the industry benchmark for parkour instruction, and has been formulated over several years by many of the founding figures and most experienced instructors of parkour.
Today, the ADAPT instructor network has spread around the globe and ADAPT-certified instructors enjoy a number of benefits, including an international network of like-minded peers, improved access to insurance coverage, and support from larger parkour organizations when working with local government officials and administrators.

POST COURSE
Candidates may be required to assist a qualified ADAPT Level 2 Parkour Coach at a maximum of ten live coaching sessions post-course, depending on experience and performance on the course;
- All assigned sessions must be completed
- Each session must be a minimum of one hour in length
- All sessions must be supervised and signed by a qualified ADAPT Level 2 Parkour coach
- All sessions cannot be supervised and signed off by the same Level 2 coach
It is recommended that this is completed within 3 months of the course; however you do have a maximum one-year registration period in which to complete this. These sessions will provide you with the opportunity to experience real life coaching and gain an understanding of what it is like to be a parkour coach, and are therefore fundamental to your learning. It is your responsibility to arrange and complete these sessions within the one-year registration period. If you are unable to access an ADAPT Level 2 qualified coach, there is a video submission process that can be accessed under special conditions.
Once you have completed any assigned supervised coaching sessions, you will need to send a copy (either photocopy or photograph/scan) of the completed supervised coaching record to:
Email: info@adaptqualifications.com
Please keep the original supervised coaching record in your learner pack. You will not receive certification for the qualification until you have sent the signed record back.
FAQs
How do I know if I'm ready to take ADAPT?
ADAPT Level 1 is the entry level course for parkour instructors. Participants should have a basic understanding and control of the basic parkour techniques and should be comfortable training within a group in a variety of settings and environments. Prior teaching experience is useful, although not required. Experience in other movement disciplines and/or fitness science is also helpful but not required.
What do I need to do to pass ADAPT?
In order to receive the ADAPT Level 1 certification; participants must complete the 3-day course, which involves practical assessments as well as a written assessment. Candidates can then begin logging the required minimum of 10 supervised coaching session with an ADAPT Level 2 or 3 instructor, including a final “assessed live coaching session" at the end of this period. If successful, the candidate will then receive the ADAPT Level One Certification.
Note: The supervised coaching sessions with a Level 2 or Level 3 instructor must be completed within 12 months from the end of the course.
How do the supervised coaching sessions and "assessed live coaching sessions" work?
The supervised coaching hours are designed to make sure that the candidate is able to instruct at a level consistent with the ADAPT Level 1 standard. The sessions must be completed with a certified ADAPT Level 2 or Level 3 instructor, who can be found in a number of cities around the world. Many participants are able to complete most of their supervised hours at workshops and/or classes that usually take place directly after the course in the host city.
