ADAPT Level 2 Coach Certification

The world's leading parkour coach certification. Setting the standard since 2008.

The Level 2 is not just an education course, it's a formative process that will shape, sharpen and strengthen your entire coaching approach.

Over five intensive days, you will be challenged on the science of how people learn, how movement expertise is actually built, and what it means to coach with both rigour and integrity. This is the course that separates working coaches from exceptional ones.

What You'll Cover

The Level 2 goes beyond technique and into the foundations of coaching itself: how to structure learning, how to read movement, how to build environments that make progress inevitable.

Day 1: The Coach's Foundation
Welcome and orientation. Movement practice. A philosophy of coaching. The science of expertise and deliberate practice. Coaching a movement continuum. Building confidence in parkour practice.

Day 2: Mechanics and Method
Breaking jumps in practice. Using fear as a tool for unlocking movement. Pedagogical models of coaching. Anatomy, physiology and redefining fitness for parkour. Biomechanics coaching. The basics of programming for movement.

Day 3: Teaching in Practice
Thematic coaching. Activity design for coaches. Micro-teach scenario practice.

Day 4: Communication and Athlete Care
Affordances for movement and the nature of parkour. Communication and cueing for coaches. Micro-teach practice. Prehab and rehab for parkour.

Day 5: Putting It Together
Avoiding the dangers of coaching. Group coaching and supervising assistants. Coaching the values of parkour. Self-programming for assessments. Action plans, reflective coaching, and assessment preparation. Final group challenge.

The Certification Process

The Level 2 is a two-phase certification.

Phase 1: The Training Course (5 days, 09:00 to 18:00 daily)
The intensive training experience. All candidates receive a Learner Pack, the ADAPT Coaching Resource Book, Assessment Materials, and Reflective Hours Log-Sheets.

Phase 2: Assessments (2 days, booked separately)
Assessments take place between 3 months and 2 years after your course. This window is intentional: you need time to absorb the material, act on your tutor's feedback, and build real coaching experience before you sit for assessment.

Before your Assessment phase, you must complete 40 reflective coaching sessions and bring documented evidence to your assessment.

Assessments are booked and paid for separately via this site, when you are ready.

Entry Requirements

Before booking, confirm you meet all of the following:

  • Aged 18 or over
  • Current First Aid certification (or recognised equivalent)
  • ADAPT Level 1 Coach Certified
  • Able to communicate effectively in English (listening, speaking, reading, and writing)

If you cannot meet these requirements at the time of the course, you have 18 months from the end of the course to provide evidence before assessment information is released to you.

Strongly recommended: at least 3 to 5 years of parkour training experience and 1 to 2 years of assistant coaching experience. You will be asked to demonstrate practical parkour competency and to work through live coaching scenarios throughout the course.

After You Book

Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive full course details including the venue address and your tutor's contact information.

Assessments are a separate booking. See the Assessments page for dates and pricing.

WHAT THE COMMUNITY SAYS

ADAPT has helped shape my community and the quality of the courses we have delivered over the past 13 years. It represents a high standard in parkour coaching, and one of the main reasons I pursued the certification was its reputation as a trusted benchmark for quality, professionalism, and coaching excellence. I would love to see ADAPT adopted in many more countries around the world.

– Alexandru Tomu Mohanu, Italy

This course deepened my understanding of parkour and gave me more confidence in how I structure lessons and communicate with students. It also helped me connect knowledge and experience from other fields to my parkour coaching, allowing me to contribute not only to technical instruction but also to better lessons and a stronger community.

– Takashi Sato, Japan

I had a great experience with my tutor and fellow participants during the course, and I learned so much about different coaching styles and just how broad the world of coaching can be. It’s not enough to have passion or skills; the coach is a 360-degree role that can have a huge impact on a practitioner’s life.

- Andrea Murgia, Sardinia

Before ADAPT, my instinct as a coach was just to demonstrate - to show what the movement should look like. What the certification changed was the direction of my attention: it moved from my own body to the practitioner standing in front of me. I learned to coach the person I actually have, not the movement I have in my head. That shift is the difference between someone who can move and someone who can teach.

– Jiho Kim, South Korea

ADAPT helped me think more deeply about why we teach movement, not just how we teach it. It gave me practical coaching tools that I use every week at BIG JUMP.

– Youshin Miyazaki, Japan

FAQs

How do I know if I'm ready to join an ADAPT Level 2?

If you have completed the ADAPT Level 1 and have 2+ years of coaching under your belt, you are ready to attend the Training Course. It's important to remember that the Training Course is not the Assessment; it's preparation for the Assessment. The 5-day Training Course will reveal any strengths and weaknesses both in coaching and parkour terms, and provide you the means by which to prepare for the Assessments.

Can I take the course if I'm new to parkour training?

No. We recommend 3-5 years of regular parkour practice before attending the Level 2 Training Course, in order to get the most out of the experience.

What do I need to do to pass ADAPT?

In order to receive the ADAPT Level 2 Coach Certification; participants must complete the 5-day course, then complete 40 self-reflective coaching hours before completing the Assessment Phase which is a separate 2-day event.

The Assessments can be taken anywhere upto 2 years following the Training Course.

Note: The self-reflective hours must be completed before attending the Assessment Phase.

I've heard the Level 2 Assessments are very tough. Why?

Because standards matter, especially in teaching a physically and psychologically challenging discipline like parkour. A coach of parkour should be able to demonstrate that they have competence with the foundation movements of parkour as well as the basic level of physicality and fitness required to demonstrate these movements safely and effectively in a class environment. Modelling is a key element of learning, and the Level 2 Coach is expected to be a good model for the movements.

However, the Level 2 Assessments by no means require elite levels of skill and/or fitness. A good practitioner should be able to complete the Competence Assessment on any given training day - there is nothing unreasonable or overly-taxing for a committed, regular practitioner of parkour.

Another important reason for the Competence Assessment is to see that the candidate is able to programme for a specific goal successfully. Programming is a vital skill for a coach, and if one is not able to programme effectively for themself it is unlikely they will be able to programme effectively for others.

Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?

The Level 2 is open to anyone 18+

What should I bring into the event?

Candidates should bring the following items for the first day of the course:

  • Valid photo ID
  • Notebook and pen
  • Small bag to carry valuables and snacks
  • Snacks to eat throughout the course
  • Weather appropriate clothing & items (sunscreen, jacket, etc)
