ADAPT course in session — coaches and practitioners training together

HOSTING A COURSE

Every ADAPT course — wherever in the world it is delivered — must meet the same standard. That standard is upheld by our Tutors and by the organisations and individuals who host us. This page sets out what is required of host organisations, why it matters, and how to ensure your course delivers the ADAPT experience your candidates deserve.

Hosting as partnership

Hosting an ADAPT course is not a commercial transaction in which you provide a space and candidates turn up. It is a partnership in which you and ADAPT are jointly responsible for delivering an experience that meets the highest standard of parkour coach education — one that does credit to the discipline, to the candidates who have invested their time and money, and to the ADAPT name.

That means the quality of what you provide — the venue, the equipment, the administration, the safeguarding compliance, the logistical support — directly affects the quality of what candidates receive. A course delivered in a poorly equipped venue, with inadequate supervision ratios, or in an organisation without the appropriate safeguarding infrastructure is not an ADAPT course in anything but name.

ADAPT operates in many countries, across many different organisational contexts. The standards on this page are the minimum expected of every host. Where local requirements are more stringent than ADAPT's baseline, the more stringent standard applies.

Venue requirements

The venue must be appropriate for the course being delivered. The ADAPT Tutor has final authority over whether a venue is suitable for the planned activities. If a venue is found to be inadequate on the day — structurally, spatially, or in terms of safety — the Tutor has the authority to modify or cancel the course, and the host organisation bears responsibility for the consequences.

📐

Adequate space

Sufficient unobstructed training space for the number of candidates enrolled. Minimum 8m x 8m for practical sessions. More space required for courses involving outdoor training or complex movement environments.

🧱

Appropriate structures

Parkour-appropriate equipment and surfaces for the course level. L1 courses require basic vaulting and jumping surfaces at manageable heights. L2 courses require a broader range. All structures must be stable, in good repair, and free of hazards.

🛬

Landing surfaces

Appropriate landing mats available for all activities involving height. Mats must be in good condition — no tears, slippage, or compressed areas. Concrete or hard surfaces without adequate landing provision are not acceptable for movement activities.

🔦

Lighting and visibility

Adequate lighting for all indoor training areas. The Tutor must be able to clearly observe all candidates throughout practical sessions. If natural light is insufficient, supplementary lighting must be provided.

🚻

Facilities

Accessible toilets for all course participants. Changing facilities where required. Drinking water available throughout the course day. Separate facilities for under-18s where the course includes minors, in line with ADAPT's safeguarding requirements.

🚨

Emergency access

Clear, unobstructed emergency exit routes. A first aid kit present and accessible. A designated first aider on site throughout the course. The address and route to the nearest emergency department confirmed before the first course day.

🖥

Theory space

A suitable space for theory sessions — written assessments, group discussion, and presentation delivery. This can be the same space as practical training, but must be configured appropriately for seated written work. Tables and chairs (or equivalent) must be provided for all candidates.

🔒

Secure storage

Secure storage for candidate belongings, assessment materials, and any sensitive documents during the course day. Assessment materials must be stored securely between sessions.

Safeguarding obligations

An ADAPT tutor leading a course briefing — professional and attentive

All ADAPT course hosts must demonstrate compliance with the safeguarding requirements applicable in their country. This is a prerequisite for hosting — not an optional add-on. The following minimum requirements must be confirmed to ADAPT before the course date is confirmed.

Requirement All courses Courses with under-18s
Named Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the host organisation Required Required
Written safeguarding policy (current, jurisdiction-appropriate) Required Required
All staff/volunteers with participant contact have appropriate background checks Required Required
Safeguarding reporting pathway communicated to all course staff Required Required
Separate toilet/changing facilities for minors Required
Paediatric first aid qualified person on site Required
Parent/guardian emergency contacts collected before course starts Required
Photography and consent policy in place Recommended Required
⚠ Safeguarding compliance is confirmed in advance

ADAPT will request written confirmation of safeguarding compliance before confirming any course hosting arrangement. If confirmation cannot be provided, the course date will not be scheduled. This is not negotiable — it is a condition of operating as an ADAPT host.

Logistics and support

The host organisation's primary responsibility is to provide the conditions under which the course can be delivered effectively. The ADAPT Tutor is responsible for the delivery itself. These responsibilities are distinct, and both must be fulfilled.

Candidate registration and communication. ADAPT is responsible for managing candidate registrations, communicating pre-course information (joining instructions, what to bring, venue details), and ensuring all candidates are confirmed before the course date.

Participant medical and emergency contact information. The host must collect relevant medical information and emergency contacts for all candidates on the first course day. This information must be accessible during all course sessions.

Equipment preparation. All equipment and venue spaces confirmed in the course plan must be prepared and available before the Tutor and candidates arrive. The host must notify ADAPT immediately if any confirmed equipment or space becomes unavailable.

On-site support. A named host contact must be available throughout every course day — either on site or immediately reachable — to respond to logistical needs, venue concerns, or safeguarding matters. This person must be briefed on the safeguarding reporting procedure before the course begins.

Insurance. The host must hold valid public liability insurance covering the course activities and all participants at the venue. This must be confirmed to ADAPT in writing before the course date. The host's insurance does not cover the Tutor's independent liability — ADAPT holds its own insurance for its Tutors.

Candidate welfare during multi-day courses. For courses spanning more than one day, the host is responsible for confirming appropriate accommodation options for candidates and Tutors travelling from other locations. ADAPT manages accommodation booking but looks to the host for advice on appropriate local arrangements.

The hosting process

1

Expression of interest

Contact ADAPT Qualifications at info@adaptqualifications.com with details of your organisation, your location, the course you wish to host, your proposed dates, and a brief description of your venue and facilities. ADAPT will respond within 5 working days.

2

Venue and compliance review

ADAPT will review your venue details and confirm whether they meet the minimum requirements for the course requested. You will be asked to provide written confirmation of safeguarding compliance, insurance, and any other prerequisites relevant to your country. For new host organisations, a pre-course venue visit or video call may be requested.

3

Course confirmation

Once all prerequisites are confirmed, ADAPT will assign a Tutor and confirm the course date. The course will be listed on ADAPT's booking platform. Marketing materials and candidate-facing information will be provided for the host to share.

4

Pre-course coordination

The assigned Tutor will contact the host at least 2 weeks before the course date to confirm venue setup, equipment, the confirmed candidate list, medical and emergency contact information, and any specific requirements for the course. Complete this communication promptly — delays at this stage affect course readiness.

5

Course delivery

The host provides the venue, equipment, and logistical support. The Tutor delivers the course to ADAPT's standards. The host's on-site contact is available throughout. Any incidents that occur are reported by the Tutor to ADAPT and by the host to their own organisation's DSL in parallel.

6

Post-course review

The Tutor will provide ADAPT with a post-course report covering delivery, candidate performance, and any venue or logistical concerns. Hosts are encouraged to provide their own feedback. Repeated concerns about a host's facilities or compliance will be reviewed and may result in the host being removed from ADAPT's approved network.
