Completing your certification
Passing the course is the first step. To receive your ADAPT Level 1 certificate, you'll also need to complete a minimum of 10 supervised coaching sessions with a Level 2 or Level 3 ADAPT instructor, within one year of the course. A few rules apply:
- Each session must run at least one hour
- Sessions must be signed off by a qualified Level 2 (or above) coach
- No single coach can sign off all your sessions
Most candidates complete these within three months, often at workshops running straight after the course. You have up to a year, and if a Level 2 coach isn't accessible, a video submission route is available under special conditions.
Once complete, send your signed Supervised Coaching Record to info@adaptqualifications.com (keep the original in your Learner Pack). Your certificate is issued electronically once we receive it.

What past candidates say
"This course deepened my understanding of parkour and gave me more confidence in how I structure lessons and communicate with students. It also helped me connect knowledge and experience from other fields to my coaching, contributing not just to technical instruction but to a stronger community." — Takashi Sato, Japan
"I had a great experience with my tutor and fellow participants, and learned so much about different coaching styles and just how broad the world of coaching can be. It's not enough to have passion or skills, the coach is a 360-degree role that can have a huge impact on a practitioner's life." — Andrea Murgia, Sardinia
FAQs
How do I know if I'm ready to take ADAPT?
ADAPT Level 1 is the entry level course for parkour instructors. Participants should have a basic understanding and control of the basic parkour techniques and should be comfortable training within a group in a variety of settings and environments. Prior teaching experience is useful, although not required. Experience in other movement disciplines and/or fitness science is also helpful but not required. See the Level 1 Foundation Coach pathway for full details.
What do I need to do to pass ADAPT?
To receive the ADAPT Level 1 certification, participants must complete the 3-day course, which involves practical assessments as well as a written assessment. Candidates can then begin logging the required minimum of 10 supervised coaching sessions with an ADAPT Level 2 or 3 instructor. Once completed successfully, the candidate will receive the ADAPT Level One Certification. Note: the supervised coaching sessions must be completed within 12 months from the end of the course. See our Coaching Standards for what's expected at each stage.
How do the post-course supervised coaching hours work?
The supervised coaching hours are designed to make sure the candidate can instruct at a level consistent with the ADAPT Level 1 standard. Sessions must be completed with a certified ADAPT Level 2 or Level 3 instructor, found in a number of cities around the world. Many participants complete most of their supervised hours at workshops or classes running directly after the course in the host city. For a non-exhaustive list of Level 2 and Level 3 coaches in your area, see the ADAPT Coach Registry
Can I use video submission?
Yes. If you're unable to reach a Level 2 coach to work with for your post-course learning, we accept video submission of classes you run. Full details are on our Video Assessment Guidance page, or email info@adaptqualifications.com.
Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Candidates may take the course starting at age 15 but cannot receive their certificate until their 16th birthday. See our Reasonable Adjustment Policy if you have questions about access or additional needs.
