ADAPT: THE GOLD STANDARD IN PARKOUR COACHING

The world's leading practitioners built something for the next generation of coaches. This is it.

ADAPT — the Art du Déplacement And Parkour Teaching Certification — is the internationally recognised benchmark for professional parkour instruction. Created by the founding figures of the discipline and refined over two decades of real-world coaching, ADAPT isn't just a certificate. It's entry into a global network of the most respected instructors in parkour.

WHAT YOU'LL GAIN

When you earn your ADAPT Level 1, you join a community of coaches operating in gyms, schools, and public spaces around the world: backed by the credentials, insurance support, and organisational recognition that lets you teach with confidence and authority.

  • Access to an international network of elite parkour professionals
  • Improved access to insurance coverage
  • Recognised standing when working with local authorities and institutions
  • A certification that speaks for itself: wherever in the world you coach

THE LEVEL 1 COACH CERTIFICATION

3 intensive days. A career-defining outcome.

The course runs 9am–6pm each day and covers everything you need to become a skilled, safe, and philosophically grounded parkour coach:

  • The history, origins, and living spirit of parkour
  • Principles of movement and functional strength & conditioning
  • The science of learning and applied coaching methodology
  • Group management, communication, and safer coaching practices
  • Understanding and facilitating managed risk

The course closes with a written exam and practical assessment. To complete your certification, you'll then log a maximum of 10 supervised coaching sessions with a qualified Level 2 or 3 Coach, or via video submission, within one year of the course. Submit your log sheet, receive your certificate.

ARE YOU READY?

This is a coach education course, but a good coach does need to have at least a basic grasp of the discipline: the more time you've invested in your own practice, the more confidently you'll perform. We recommend at least 6 months of parkour training to get the most out of the course, however if you have a movement/fitness background you should be able to handle the physical elements of the course. You don't need to be an expert practitioner, but you do need to have a basic level of fitness and mobility.

Your parkour competence is informally assessed during the course, and if not quite there yet then you will have a 6 month period post-course to be able to learn and demonstrate the required level.

If you're serious about coaching parkour professionally, there is no more respected credential in the world.

      POST COURSE EVIDENCE

      Candidates will be required to assist qualified ADAPT Level 2 Parkour Coach at a maximum of ten live coaching sessions post-course, depending on experience and performance on the course;

      • All assigned sessions must be completed
      • Each session must be a minimum of one hour in length

      • All sessions cannot be supervised and signed off by the same Level 2 coach

It is recommended that this is completed within 3 months of the course; however you do have a maximum one-year registration period in which to complete this. These sessions will provide you with the opportunity to experience real life coaching and gain an understanding of what it is like to be a parkour coach, and are therefore fundamental to your learning. It is your responsibility to arrange and complete these sessions within the one-year registration period. If you are unable to access an ADAPT Level 2 qualified coach, there is a video submission process that can be accessed under special conditions.

Once you have completed any assigned supervised coaching sessions, you will need to send a copy (either photocopy or photograph/scan) of the completed supervised coaching record to:

      Email: info@adaptqualifications.com

Please keep the original supervised coaching record in your learner pack. You will not receive certification for the qualification until you have sent the signed record back.

      FAQs

How do I know if I'm ready to join an ADAPT Level 1?

ADAPT Level 1 is the entry level course for parkour instructors.  Participants should have an understanding of the basic parkour techniques and should be comfortable training within a group in a variety of settings and environments.  Prior teaching experience is useful, although not required.

Can I take the course if I'm new to parkour training?

Yes. This is a coach education course, but a good coach does need to have at least a basic grasp of the discipline: so the more time you've invested in your own practice, the more confidently you'll perform.

Either way you will learn a huge amount on this course and it will be of great benefit in your own practice as well as your general coaching ability.

What do I need to do to pass ADAPT?

In order to receive the ADAPT Level 1 certification; participants must complete the 3-day course, which involves practical assessments as well as a written assessment. Candidates can then begin logging the required supervised coaching session with an ADAPT Level 2 or Level 3 instructor, including a final “assessed live coaching session" at the end of this period.  If successful, the candidate will then receive the ADAPT Level 1 Certification.

Note: The supervised coaching sessions with a Level 2 or Level 3 instructor must be completed within 12 months from the end of the course.

How do the supervised coaching sessions and "assessed live coaching sessions" work?

The supervised coaching hours are designed to make sure that the candidate is able to instruct at a level consistent with the ADAPT Level 1 standard.  The sessions must be completed with a certified ADAPT Level 2 or Level 3 instructor, who can be found in a number of cities around the country.  Many participants are able to complete most of their supervised hours at workshops and/or classes that usually take place directly after the course in the host city.  For a complete list of Level 2 and Level 3 coaches in your area go to : https://store.adaptqualifications.com/pages/adapt-certified or email info@adaptqualifications.com

If unable to access a Level 2 Coach in person for this purpose, we do accept video submissions of your own classes as post-course evidence, which will then be assessed and approved by our in-house Tutor group.

Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Candidates may take the course starting at age 15 but cannot actually receive their certificate until their 16th birthday.

What should I bring into the event?

Candidates should bring the following items for the first day of the course:

      • Valid photo ID
      • Outstanding payment balance (if paying via instalment plan)
      • Small bag to carry valuables and snacks
      • Snacks to eat throughout the course
